You *must* read this book!

If you had to choose one book to thrust into someone else’s hand, saying “You must read this!” – what would it be? And why?

  1. The Hobbit. If you’re planning on seeing the films, you really must read the book. Read it yourself, or read it aloud to a child (or an adult!) but do read it! It’s much easier and a quicker read than Lord of the Rings, much as I love it. Give it a go!

  2. Have just read ‘The Islington Murder Mystery’ by David Barrat. It’s exactly what it says – an account of a murder that took place in London in 1915 and the author, using unpublished documents from the National Archives, skilfully sets out the facts of the case and comes to a convincing solution. A good read for any true crime enthusiast.
